South Wales/Cardiff based string quartet with a repertoire spanning many genres from classical, romantic and jazz through to musicals, film and pop. The quartet also offer an arrangement service for any music that is special to you.

Based in South Wales, the Blackman String Quartet has had much experience performing and entertaining all over Wales and the South West of England. The quartet comprises the talents of four professional musicians, all of whom have a wealth of performing experience. As individuals, members of the group have performed with many professional orchestras including the BBC National Orchestra Of Wales, The Orchestra of Welsh National Opera, The Welsh Chamber Orchestra, The Welsh Sinfonia, The West of England Philharmonic, Jeff Hooper Big Band and many more.

Members of the group have also performed with the likes of: Bryn Terfel, Katherine Jenkins, Shan Cothi, Aled Jones, Sir Harry Secombe, Wynne Evans, Kiri Te Kanawa, Quincy Jones, Julian Lloyd Webber, Hayley Westenra, Jason Howard, Della Jones, Donald Maxwell and Gail Pearson. The quartet has also performed for Royalty!

The Blackman string quartet have performed at many prestigious venues including Cardiff Castle, Miskin Manor, Llansantffraed Court Hotel, Caerphilly Castle, Cwrt Bleddyn Hotel,The Celtic Manor and many more.

  • I wanted to write you a short note to say thank you to both yourself and other members of the Blackman String Quartet for your performance at the trusts dinner at the Millennium Stadium earlier this month.

    The quartet played just the right selection of music, taking into account the cross section of people at the dinner. I had so many complimentary comments on your playing from people at the dinner including professional musicians and people new to the musical scene. Thank you also for including all the songs I sent you in my brief and for being so helpful and accommodating with this.

    Being a charity for the performing arts, It was important to us to create the right first musical impression, and upon entering the Millennium Stadium to the dulcet tones of the string quartet certainly hit the mark.
