The Child have years of experience playing all over the world. As an originals band they reached the 2003 semi-finals of the Demo Project organized by the International Festival of Benicassim, one of the greatest festivals in pop, electro and the indie scene in continental Europe. In that same year, they produced their second album, described by a certain music monthly as: 'unclassifiable pop, post rock, electro and world music blend, heterodox material and exquisite vocals!'
The Child have toured the UK intensively (Bull & Gate, Hope & Anchor, The Water Rats, Storm, Sound, The Dublin Castle, The Bullet Bar, Birmingham Crowne Plaza Hotel, The Matara Centre Gloucestershire, Dunchurch Park Hotel, Haslingfield Village Hall, Normandy Village Hall, Cadbury House Hotel, Chantmarle Manor, Hartsfield Manor, Petersham Scouts, Royal Bath Hotel, The Warf Restaurant, The Mill House Hotel, and many others to numerous to mention.
The Child are entirely self-contained with their own high quality PA and offer a choice between 2 x 1 hour and 3 x 40 minute sets. For evening events with a limited budget, they are also able to provide a playback duo option (live vocals and guitars to pre-recorded backing tracks). Similarly, for more laid-back afternoon events or receptions they are able to provide an acoustic guitar/voice duo. They can also provide recorded music for dancing in any intervals, and wherever possible, will try to work up a first dance or special song for your event. A discounted DJ service provided by one of the band members is also available - please enquire for more information.

Jonathan Green, Wedding, London, December 2008A very high quality band who gave a superb performance. Many positive remarks from guests - 'best live band at a wedding ever', 'very versatile with a wide range of material', 'made the party go with a real swing', 'produce a fantastic sound' and many other comments in the same vein. I would and will strongly recommend this versatile and accomplished band to anyone who wants a guaranteed high quality polished performance for an important function.

Fiona Dear, Wedding, Hertfordshire, November 2008The Child were an awesome tour de force that kept the dancers young and old going all night. Not only were their covers exceptional we were delighted to have them play some of their original tracks. Nick is an exceptionally talented and committed band leader and musician whilst Glauco on lead guitar stunned our guests with a virtuoso magic fingered solos and the sight of him playing the intro riff to the pulp fiction sound track is now permanently etched in my mind. All our guests raved about The Child on the evening, praise indeed as there are some hardcore party and concert goers amongst them. Together The Child have left a lasting memory and a striking end to a magical day. Thank you to everyone involved......and we might start learning to play the guitar now!

Charlie and Vickie Mansour, Wedding, London, October 2008Just a quick note to let you know quite how good this band are. They made the evening. Seriously. We had 150 people from all over Britain (and a few other places too) descend on a little valley in Wales for our wedding on September 13th. It was a wonderful day and that was before the evening's entertainment started. Then it just got better. The Child were quite amazing. Every cover that they did sounded EXACTLY like the real version; the Killers, the Strokes, etc and they turned our dancefloor into a scene from a festival. Everyone who was there commented that they were extra special and can't believe that they are a wedding band available to hire. Watch this space, because they won't be for long.
To top it off, their administration was also perfect. The way Nick got in contact with us to decide songs, let us know they were on their way, make sure that they had adequate electrical support, and all the other bits that are necessary to make the night great was spot on. A very well managed bunch of guys. Nick is a great person who we look forward to supporting in the future at their gigs in london, etc

James Frain, Wedding, Essex, September 2008May I pass on my thanks for such a great band, The Child lived up to the hype and more, they were very flexible on the evening and professional in the way they conducted themselves.
We received many compliments on the quality of the band and they made sure the evening event was very memorable for all the right reasons.
Please pass on my thanks to the band and would be happy and will recommend them for any friends weddings. -
Ian and Jo Walsh, Wedding, Kent, September 2008Firstly I would like to thank you for organising such a great band for mine and Jo's wedding. Having just arrived back from honeymoon and meeting with some friends who were at the wedding the feedback about The Child has been nothing less than exceptional. I would also mirror those comments. They really made the evening go with a real swing, the dance floor was packed all night and the music that they played from their extensive list was exactly what we expected. Thanks once again.

Mike Bradford, Wedding, London, August 2008Hi guys, just a quick email to let you know that Saturday Night was just Fantastic. The Band 'The Child' were absolutely superb. Their professional approach to the evening and the musical versatility was without question the highlight of the party. I have been inundated with praise on their behalf by many of the party goers and will have no hesitation in recommending yourselves and the band to any of them for future events. Once again thank you so much for making our party the evening we all hoped it would be.
-
Federico Lopez, Wedding, London, July 2008The Child are a top band. They played a great set at my wedding recently and everyone we have spoken to since returning from our honeymoon have mentioned what a great band we had. They sounded brilliant and really did make our day end on a high.
I want to thank Nick, the lead singer, personally, for the clarity and organisation he demonstrated prior to the wedding and say that he arranged things perfectly and was accessible at all times before the big day.
The Child are not only just a great band but also a great bunch of people, very friendly, and ones who I would reccommend to anybody else thinking of having a live band for their wedding in the future.
-
Ceri Hall, Party, Surrey, July 2008We had an absolutely fab day thank you -and yes all went to plan thanks! The Child were extremely professional and certainly got the party started, and managed to keep it going all night. There was plenty of dancing to be had! Thanks again for all your help.
-
Joceyln Edgar, Wedding, Sussex, July 2008Just wanted to let you know how brilliant The Child were at our wedding - they had everyone (young and old) dancing and made a real party atmosphere. Helen Davies, Wedding,Sussex, August 2008The Child were absolutely fantastic. The dance floor was full to bursting and the band were really friendly. They promised to rock our wedding and totally delivered!
-
Paddy Miller, Wedding, Cornwall, July 2008It's hard to describe just how brilliant The Child were for our wedding. I'll start by saying that they were friendly, professional and very helpful in the lead up to our wedding. The band were willing to travel all the way to Cornwall, do 4 sets, including 2 acoustic, instead of 2 (total nearly 4 hours playing), and went into the studio to learn over 30 new songs for our big day. That is dedication.
The music on the day was brilliant beyond all expectations. I was pleasantly surprised to see that The Child are all proper musicians, and had sheet music to read from rather than just learning the chords. The result was pitch perfect music, and versions of songs that were in many cases better than the originals!
Music was crucial to my wife and I for our big day, and the set The Child performed was so amazing that its one of our overriding memories. It had everyone singing, everyone crying to the slow songs, everyone dancing to floor fillers. In many ways it has become the soundtrack for our lives. I will finish by saying that nearly every card we received afterwards said that 'that was the best wedding we have ever been to, and that was by far the best band'. We are so very grateful for The Child helping make our wedding such a special day."
-
Scott and Rachael Terrell, Wedding, London, June 2008Thank you to Nick and the band for making our wedding the party that we wanted it to be. Your set included something for everyone and certainly got us all dancing. Our guests were all very impressed at how fantastic they were! Thank you once again for helping us choose the music and being so flexible and friendly on the day. It was a truly excellent evening! We most certainly would like to watch the band perform again when they are not busy with private events. My husband has already decided that for his 40th birthday party he would love to have them performing once again so keep your diary free in 2012 guys!! Many thanks again for a truly brilliant performance.
-
Sarah Buckingham, Wedding, Oxfordshire, May 2008The Child were brilliant on Saturday night; they were professional, friendly and they played a great set. There were lots of favourable comments from the many guests! Please pass on our thanks to them.
-
Jonathan Burrough, Wedding, Leicestershire, May 2008I just wanted to thank you for organising 'The Child' to play at our wedding last month. They really are a fantastic band, and they made an already very special day even better. They kept people on the dance floor all night!! We had lots of comments from guests saying what a great band they were, and the venue staff said that they were the best band that had played the venue ever. So thanks again, we hope to be able to book them at a party at some point in the future.
-
Karl von Furstenberg, 30th Birthday, Essex, April 2008Just a few lines to say thank you for your help in booking The Child for our party on Saturday. They were an excellent band with a fantastic up-to-date repertoire and really "rocked" the event. They were also thoroughly nice guys. Nick was extremely helpful in the run-up to the party, particularly in designing the various play lists. I can really recommend The Child to anyone.
-
Nicky Finch, Charity fundraiser, Wiltshire, January 2008The band were fantastic both in their music and in their attitude towards making the event a success! They accommodated some last minute changes to the schedule without hesitation and also accompanied some 'Karaoke' style entertainment from our MD...would definitely use them again and recommend to others.
-
Chin & Jean, Wedding, Dorset, January 2008The Child were absolutely fantastic. They were worth every single penny if not more. My guests all thought they were great. The music was exactly what we were expecting and everyone had a great time. They showed up quite early, set up in good time and were very professional in everything they did. Nick was polite and courteous and an absolute pleasure to deal with. I have absolutely no problem recommending them to anyone. They are BRILLIANT!!!

-
Darryl and Eve Squires, Wedding, Buckinghamshire, October 2007The band we had for our original booking split up three weeks before the wedding. Nightmare!!! We eventually found The Child!!!!!! They absolutely ROCKED the wedding with a set of corkers. The dancefloor was packed for the entire two hours and during I Predict A Riot, it was sheer madness. What a band! They learnt a few new songs for us, stayed in contact and more importantly delivered a blinder! If you want a good party then The Child is the band you need.
-
Ruth and Mike Crowson, Wedding, Hertfordshire, August 2007Just wanted to leave a message to say THANK YOU to The Child. They were truly amazing and made our wedding reception the party of the century!!! I would say they had everyone on the dancefloor all night. Their choice of music was perfect with something for everyone. As a band they were wonderful and such a lovely group of guys - flexibility probably being their middle name!! Everyone i spoke to raved about the guys, their music, their attitude and their talent. Thank you thank you for such an amazing evening - The Child you were the icing on our wedding cake!!!!
-
Dave Greatrex, Wedding, London, August 2007jI just wanted to let you know our wedding night was fantastic. The Child really were brilliant. I was very nervous about hiring a band I'd never heard before, especially being so fussy about my music, but these guys really came up trumps. The best cover of Maggie May ever, the whole place was rocking, and people were even crowd surfing at the end! Not me honest!.Thanks loads for putting us in touch with these guys.
-
Paul Jones, Wedding, Cambridgeshire, July 2007I want to say that The Child rocked! Everyone commented on how good they were and they are really nice guys. We were all bouncing around like crazy by the end of their set! I also want to say a big personal thank you to Nick, who took the time to secretly rehearse a special song for my sister to sing to me at the event.
-
Nina Windhauser, Birthday Party, London, July 2007Hi Nick, I just want to thank you for helping me select a band for my birthday party. The Child were absolutely fantastic, the communication before the date was excellent, and they sent me a through a song list so that I could pick the songs I liked. I spend my night singing my heart out as I danced to their songs. They were amazing and went down a treat - such nice guys as well. They left a few cards, which I have given to a few of my friends who I am sure would be interested in booking them - so they are sure to email you soon. Thanks again for making my Birthday special! I would certainly recommend The Child to your clients.
