The Graduates are a 4-piece band from the North East, featuring four experienced and accomplished young musicians. The two brothers have played in bands together for over 15 years and their keys player has been an integral part of the group for the last 5 years.

It's their musical dexterity combined with great vocal range that allow the graduates to cover such a wide range of genres. From Marvin Gaye, The Beatles, through to Luther Vandross, Billy Joel and Whitney Houston, right up to Robbie Williams, Beyonce and Kings of Leon. All the while the beat that gets your guests up on the dance floor and keeps them there is provided by the bassist and drummer, who hold the groove so well that it never leaves their pocket!

You can augment the band by adding female vocals, or Saxophone and Trombone. See the repertoire lists below for songs that are available, depending on which line-up you choose.

Members of the band have played at venues such as Newcastle University, St James Park, Durham University, Edinburgh Jazz Club, Dempseys Cardiff, The Sage Gateshead, Stockton International Riverside Festival, The Deep Hull, Wynyard Hall, The Cluny Newcastle, Raithwaite Hall Sandsend, The Mansion Leeds, Scarborough Jazz Festival, and too many others to list!

You can expect a very diverse set list that is guaranteed to please, and a memorable and energetic performance to match. If you are after something truly special why not try the 9-piece band for an event you’ll never forget? The additional musicians the band uses on these occasions are all of the highest calibre and have been playing with them for many years.

Please note that due to high demand during peak season (April - September), quotes may be slightly higher for this period.

What people say Help

  • The act were excellent. The set up and clearance were done very smoothly and they performed to a high standard and accommodated the needs of the bride and groom. They were happy for the bride's sister to join in for one number.

  • We were extremely satisisfied with the act. They sounded great they pitched the music exactly right for our guests. The dancefloor was full all of the time. Steven the lead singer could not have been more helpful in organising the event with us and with sorting out the music between sets. Everybody loves them

  • Massive thanks - you guys were amazing and everyone commented on how good you were and the choice of songs. We have been recommending you to all our friends. Honestly, we couldn't have wished for a better band: 5-star recommendation!

Thank you so much once again Steven you all made our day more special.

  • The band were fantastic and really got the party going! The mix of music was spot on and there was definitely something for all ages and tastes in music. So much better than just a disco and I would definitely book them for any future occasions. Thanks gents, you really made my reception a night to remember and my guests are still commenting on how much they enjoyed the band.

  • The Graduates were amazing. Musically they were fantastic. They were very accommodating in our choice of first dance and also in our playlist track for the DJ set (including some Bhangra tunes). I'd particularly like to thank Steven who was in regular touch with me, was polite and helpful from the initial booking right up to packing away the band's kit after the gig. They are an affable professional group of lads who sound fantastic and I'd recommend them to anyone.

    Adrian, Wedding, London, July 2014
  • The Graduates were superb! They played at our wedding in September, we had about 60 guests varying in age from 3 - 89, from a family we had previously thought of as not very into dancing, so hiring a band was a bit of a gamble. However, The Graduates brought out the dancer in everyone! They very successfully read the mood of the audience and played brilliantly, from classics to modern. People were enjoying the music while chatting in the other room as well as those on the dance floor, and we consistently had guests commenting on how fantastic the band were! Both the vocals and playing were great, and they were all very friendly. We cannot recommend them highly enough.

    Louise, Wedding, Goldsborough, September, 2013
  • We booked The Graduates to play at our wedding celebration and they were excellent. They had everyone up dancing by the end of the night, and many of our guests commented on how good they were, especially the lead singer Steve, and the way they segued from one song into the next.
They learned our requested first dance song and played lots of our favourites from their set list, and even ended up with audience participation as we all sang the Lulu part for Relight my Fire at the end of the night!

We had good communication with them before the event and they spoke directly with the operations manager at the hotel with regards to technical set up so which I appreciated as it was one less thing for me to worry about!

  • We hired "The Graduates" for our wedding and were extremely pleased with every aspect that the agency and the band delivered. The service provided was professional from start to finish. We had great correspondence leading up to the wedding from the agency and the band, who were very helpful and were able to accommodate all of our special requests. On the actual day the weather was too cold to play outside as originally planned but the band were happy to adapt to play in the smaller inside area. The band were happy to accommodate our special request playing one song outside in the outdoor barn. They played a excellent acoustic song in the fantastic setting. I would have no hesitation to recommend The Graduates, they are a very good band with a wide range of songs to suit all ages and the sound great!

  • Just wanted to say a huge thank you for helping make our day so amazing. You guys were great and we’re so pleased we saw you guys playing in Mr Lynch last year as everyone loved the live music and you were definitely the icing on the cake! I’d really appreciate it if you could let us know about any upcoming gigs as as we’d love to see you play again!

  • The evening was a great success, with approximately 100 guests ranging from 7 to 80 years, everyone went home with a smile on their face commenting how wonderful the music was. The Graduates adapted their style and volume to suit the mood of the evening allowing dancing and conversation to flow freely. The Graduates were on time, polite and smartly dressed. I would have to hesitation in booking The Graduates for any other occasion that required organisation, good music and a feel good factor.

Susan, 50th Birthday, Teeside, January 2011
  • The band were professional in there approach and very friendly. We had lots of comments from the guests about how much they enjoyed them and we would have no hesitation in booking them again.

  • The Graduates played by sons wedding in May 2010, to which they provided a professional energetic performance that got everyone dancing.
