Romantic country houses to rugby stadiums, and barns to breweries, the North West has a plethora of unusual wedding venues, here's our pick of some of the most unique.
Welcoming Broadoaks Country House is approached along an elegant sweeping driveway. Once there, the warmth of the venue and its cosy Inglenook fireplaces is complemented by magical gardens and breathtaking views of Lake Windemere. It isn't surprising that this intimate country house has been voted as one of the mot romantic hotels in the UK by the AA. Broadoaks is available for exclusive hire, and if that wasn't enough, there's even a helipad for the ultimate in bridal entrances! Acts who have performed here include energetic rock and pop wedding band Rockit.
For something totally different, the Saints' modern stadium promises a unique experience. With the main interior space being exceptionally versatile, you're free to put your own stamp it, and there's ample space for the evening's party. Langtree Park offers a choice of licensed rooms for the ceremony, from ones with pitchside views, to the Boardroom complete with trophy display! To have your wedding photos in front of the pitch - might this just be a rugby fiend's dream?
The exquisite Midland Hotel in Manchester is certainly impressive, and it's not surprising that it has hosted music industry royalty and actual royalty over the last century. All of its function suites are licensed for civil ceremonies, and there are countless opulent rooms for afternoon and evening receptions. For ultimate indulgence, the Midland now offers a luxury spa offering Rasul experience and relaxation pods! The Midland Hotel has won 'Best Wedding Venue' in Central Manchester and also holds an award winning restaurant (no fewer than 4 AA Rosettes). Function Central bands who've played at the Midland Hotel include party giants Agent Smith.
Situated in the heart of leafy Blundellsands, Waterloo Rugby Club is our second featured rugby venue in the North West. It has the choice of three suites for the wedding breakfast and evening reception, and provides a private and peaceful setting for celebrations. Waterloo Rugby Club have hosted countless weddings, and can cater from buffet to full silver service breakfast. One of Function Central's most popular bands, Hudson, has performed here.
New House Farm in Lorton Vale, Cumbria, is a luxury B&B with a warm atmosphere and unquestionably beautiful surroundings. Its fifteen acres of grounds have stunning panoramic views of the surrounding lakes, and many of the original features of this 17th century house have been preserved. Wedding receptions are held in the magnificent Hayloft, with rustic oak beams and wooden floor, but also plenty of scope for you to stamp your individuality on the venue. There's a good deal of space for a live band and a night of celebratory dancing in this atmospheric setting.
For the ale-orientated bridal party, The Lancaster Brewery Brewhouse & Tap is a winning venue. It's one of the largest micro breweries in the North West, and with at least 5 of their own beers available at any one time, as well as a selection of cask beers and quality wine, the celebrations are already on the right track. The flexible and airy main space, with stylish suspended lights and drapes, is accompanied by a beer garden with seating for nearly 200 guests, and the option of a marquee that can even be used as a childrens' area complete with bouncy castle!
Nestled in the heart of the Lake District is this superb Grade II listed Georgian house, hosted by Chris & Gillie Addison who are dedicated to offering remarkable quality and a personalised experience. It was formerly part of Beatrix Potter's estate and in 1948 she gifted it to the National Trust. She often wrote about the house's impressive views. They offer exclusive use of the house for the whole weekend, including six beautiful bedrooms, the West Barn rooms, the 'Indoor Marquee' (pictured), and extensive grounds. Belmount Hall has also earned a reputation for providing outstanding food - Chris and Gillie also own local restaurant Jumping Jenny. The Different Lights are one of our bands who've performed for celebrations at this stunning site.
The Lake District's Linthwaite House is an intimate venue for smaller weddings, positioned on a hilltop with unbelievable views of lake Windermere. The Billiard room with its sensational views out onto the hotel's gardens, and the smaller boardroom, are both licensed for civil ceremonies. The hotel offers exclusive use and its exceptional wedding co-ordinator will ensure everything is personalised and perfected. Linthwaite House Hotel has been awarded Best for Weddings, Parties or Special Events by Conde Nast Johansens 2015 UK and Ireland awards for Excellence. Function Central's popular North West rock & pop band Hudson have played here at Linthwaite House.
