Profile

The Eden Quartet, formed in 2000, are a professional ensemble based in the North East of England specialising in music for weddings.

They perform regularly at the most popular and prestigious venues in Durham, Teesside, Tyneside and Northumberland.

Recent engagements have included weddings at Matfen Hall, Redworth Hall Hotel, Durham Castle, Langley Castle, Chillingham Castle, Beamish Hall, Hardwick Hall and Eshott Hall.

The quartet are experts in weddings and you can have the confidence they will be familiar with the special musical requirements of a wedding celebration. They will also be up to date with all the most popular pieces for ceremonies, and can offer advice where needed on how to plan the music for your special day.

The Eden Quartet play a wide range of music including popular classical themes, selections from operas and musicals, film themes and jazz and pop melodies.

Ideas for the Ceremony

The quartet will be ready to play for the arrival of your guests and will provide background music to put everyone at ease while they await the arrival of the bride.

They will then play the Bride up the aisle. Typically this would be the traditional wedding march (“Here Comes the Bride”). Other popular choices are:

Pachelbel's Canon in D
The Prince of Denmark's March - Jeremiah Clarke
Air from the Water Music - Handel

While the register is being signed, the quartet will play a piece of your choice. This is a nice point in the ceremony to select a piece of music that means something special to you both.

Finally the quartet will play you back up the aisle as husband and wife. It is a good idea to choose a piece of music that is long enough to allow the guests to follow you out. Some suggestions are:

The Entrance of the Queen of Sheba' by Handel
Wedding March' by Mendellsohn
Hornpipe' from the Water Music by Handel

Drinks Reception & Photos

While photographs are being taken and your guests relax with a drink, the Eden Quartet will play a mixed programme of music for your entertainment.

Wedding Breakfast

You may decide to continue the live music into the wedding breakfast. The quartet can play a selection of background music for all or part of the meal; whatever suits your arrangements.

Evening Reception

If you are planning a low-key evening reception a string quartet may be the perfect choice, offering that special live music ambience, without drowning out conversation.
