Profile
Tropical Heat is a Caribbean music combo that's sure to surprise and delight with the exciting sound of steelpans at its core. Listen or dance to spicy calypso, rumba, samba, meringue, reggae. Party along with the band to a range of carnival dances or take a chance with the limbo. All guaranteed to take you across the Caribbean and back in one night! Caribbean backdrops and stage lighting are included. Great fun and a totally tropical ambience!
Repertoire
Tropical Heat play a cool mix of Dancehall soca (the carnival party vibe) and ole tyme "saucy" calypsos; some latin (rumba, samba, meringue, tango); Zouk (French Caribbean) and some funky reggae (a la Bob Marley, Eddie Grant, UB40, Desmond Decker etc) plus your traditional Caribbean standards. The audience are invited to participate in some "suggestive and slinky" Caribbean party dances and finish off with the limbo poles for an interactive session. Tropical Heat are equally suited to playing cool background music or more lively music for a party session.
Line-up:
Choose between a duo, trio or quartet.
The musicians are: Dready (drums and vocals), Andi D Supadred (bass and vocals), Francois "Frenchie" (rhythm guitar and vocals) and Geddes (steelpans, vocals and percussion). Other instruments are used to achieve the full, broad sounds and rhythms of their repertoire: the latin stuff, the dancehall carnival music, funky reggae, the hypnotic and the percussive limbo dancing beats.
Other info
:
The band use a Caribbean style backdrop together with stage lighting. Various items are used to 'tropicalise' the playing area: a deckchair and small table with a wee bottle of rum, lots of garlands, panama and beach hats and coconuts sprayed in red, green and yellow. Packets of Caribbean herb teas are given out to limbo prize-winners! Most exotic!!
As an optional extra, Tropical Heat can provide their own Limbo dancer, Ginya, a lithe limbo dancer from St Lucia. Audience participation means that this is guaranteed to get the timid and the bold on to the dance floor!
Shure radio mics can be provided for clients' speeches.
Testimonials:
Tropical Heat played the opener to a music filled extravaganza and went down a storm! You really managed to get everyone in the caribbean mood and got the party off to a great start. I got the guys to play quite a laid back set as it was a lunchtime gig - was very relaxed and informal and all the guests loved it. I can only imagine what great fun these guys are when they are the headliners of a more 'up-tempo' performance. Will definitely hire again and highly recommend. Many thanks.
