Profile
Family Affair is a dynamic group of talented musicians who have remained strong, playing together for over five years. Bursting onto the scene, in order to revive some fresh and youthful energy onto the lacklustre covers band arena, they first found success in 2003, when they were invited to play for HRH Prince William’s well documented 21st birthday at Windsor Castle. Formerly known as Retrogression, this band went onto play alongside Lionel Richie, celebrating 150 years of Louis Vuitton and supported The Scissor Sisters to a 900-capacity audience in 2004.
The band create an undeniable electrifying impact onstage with up to four people harmonising, alongside a 3 piece horn section, guaranteed to fill any dance floor. Insisting on hand selecting their songs, Family Affair capture the true spirit of old school funk and soul legends, featuring the best 70s and 80s funk, soul and disco classics and delivering them in a style refined as their own.
Family Affair is made up of a select group of outstanding musicians, spanning a wide range of musical backgrounds, who have performed at venues such as Jazz Café, The 100 Club, Café de Paris, Hammersmith Apollo, Shepherds Bush Empire, London Astoria and festivals including Glastonbury, T in the Park and Virgin. They have participated in tours throughout Europe, America, Asia and Australia.
Testimonials
Family Affair played at my girlfriends 40th Birthday party on 29th September. Everyone including the birthday girl have said that they though the band were brilliant ! There just was not enough ! We had everyone dancing to the music and even playing the drums at the end ! We wanted the evening to go on longer as we were all just getting going. The music was great and something that we could all sing along to and vocally spot on. I would recommend and in fact have already recommended Family Affair to anyone having a party !

Thought we’d drop you an email to give some feedback on Family Affair. These guys were absolutely brilliant. I could spend all day typing superlatives to describe them. From the start they all looked as though they wanted to be there and that they were genuinely having a good time – this made for a really good start. All the songs they sang were performed perfectly. I lost count of how many of my guests asked me where I found them.
In short, we’re so glad we booked Family Affair. They delivered exactly what we hoped for and made our reception a party to remember.
Please pass on our huge thanks.
