THE KOMMITMENTS are a live 10 piece tribute to the hugely popular movie, "The Commitments". All musicians in The Kommitments are experienced performers and strive to make the show as exciting and energetic as possible.The show is dynamic and visual with music from the movie such as Mustang Sally and Take me to the River, we are confident we can deliver the best Commitments tribute show around.
As in the film, the band come from all walks of life, dedicating themselves to becoming “the hardest working band” of their genre and it's that dedication and passion for soul music, that captures the audience from the moment the band explode onto the stage.
Their live shows feature all the great soul classics from the film : Mustang Sally, Try A Little Tenderness, Mr. Pitiful, Destination Anywhere, Chain Of Fools, Take Me To The River, In The Midnight Hour, & many more!
The Band
Cy Garrette,
LEAD VOCALS. Cy spent 3 years performing with his brother in the duo
"2 Kool". He
claims to have watched "The Commitments" movie at least 100 times and has
studied the vocal style and mannerisms of Andrew Strong. Cy has an
uncanny likeness to the big man. A true fan and on-stage performer.
Debra Johnson, LEAD VOCALS. Debra has had 10 years of experience in
professional performing. She's performed on cruise ships, in the Middle
East, Europe and all over the U.K and recently performed on Ant and Dec's Saturday
Night Takeaway. Debra's powerful, "Aretha Franklin" style of singing brings
soul energy to The Kommitments show.
Miss Anna-Marie Garmston, BACKING VOCALS, and occasional LEAD VOCALS. A
former model who is relishing the challenge of recreating the sound and
stage-craft of the original film.
Liz Bufton, BACKING VOCALS. Liz, the newest member of the band, brings
energy to the front line. She's sassy, sexy and delivers great vocal support
to the band.
Andy Stevenson, SAXOPHONE. Andy is another seasonal performer having spent
the last 3 years working as part of a 7 piece pro should band touring across
Europe and beyond. A big fan of the film and want to take the soundtrack to
the people.
George "BOSS" Hogg, TRUMPET. George is the baby of the band at only 18. A former member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra he has
incredible and is a real performer. Look out
for his stunning solos in the true style of Joey "The Lips" Fagen.
Pete Gorecka-Marshall, GUITAR. Pete has played in many bands and peformed many
gigs. He brings a subtlety & an air of
restraint to the show but is always keen to create feeling & fun in the performance.
John Bailey, KEYBOARDS. John is a graduate of the Birmingham Conservatoire and a
classically trained player who is now running his very successful teaching business. An
incredibly talented musician adds real soul to the tracks. Master of the
Hammond and prince of the piano. Listen out for his solo spots.
Chad Ellis, KEYBOARDS. Chad came on board from Canada when our other pianist
was working abroad. He has become an integral part of THE KOMMITMENTS.
Classically trained, he has now turned his hands to soul.
Spike White, BASS. Spike is part of the band's strong back line adding real rhythm
and blues and foremost, soul to the songs. A well accomplished artist with
many former bands is now looking to really perform.
Colin Slaney, DRUMS. The man with the plan had the original idea to form the
band and wants to take it as far as possible.
