The Flying Sergeants play a range of instruments from the accordion and balalaika to the bones and the banjo, and know exactly how to get your feet stompin’ and your legs dancing with their loud and lively sets!

The band specialise in traditional Irish, English, Celtic and Eastern European folk music for dancing, but, if you are looking for a more relaxing performance, they’re more than happy to play an acoustic set of folk ballads, perfect for creating a low-key and calm atmosphere at a drinks reception or afternoon event. Alternatively, if you'd like to step up your guests' involvement, The Flying Sergeants can also bring a trained caller to talk them through a range of set dances.

On the evening, the music got everyone on their feet dancing and having fun well into the night – even the staff were to be seen do-si-doing away in the kitchen! Caroline, Wedding, Southampton

The Flying Sergeants have headlined at various folk festivals including the Merry Tom Fest in Northampton and The Great Eastern Fest in Brighton. They’ve performed in numerous venues during Broadstairs Folk week in Kent and played alongside the Albion band at the Hailsham Pavilion.

On their most recent European tour, The Flying Sergeants played in a range of venues in Belgium and Germany, before finishing their tour in the beautiful Krkonoše mountains of Poland.

Previous celebrity clients of the band include Terry Pratchett, Sophie Dahl and Natasha Wightman.

The Flying Sergeants are happy to play song requests and can add a dance caller to their act to get everyone moving in time.

“The Flying Sergeants came to play at my wedding in Poland in early September. They delivered on so many levels - apart from my wife saying 'yes' they were the highlight of the day! They got everyone dancing and ensured the evening was an awesome party! The Polish guests in particular absolutely loved it as it was something new for them - and the English and Irish guests all said that it was a fantastic reception and all commented on well the band played. Not only are they excellent musicians with an extensive knowledge of Irish and European Folk Music, they are a lovely group of people as well! I would recommend The Flying Sergeants for any party of function - they were awesome and I look forward to seeing them again soon!”

Barry, Wedding in Poland, September 2019

“This hard working five-piece band is already hugely experienced for ones so young and it's not hard to see why. Their repertoire extends well beyond the usual Irish pub crowd-pleasers into some of the more obscure corners of the English and Scottish traditions - including the Cornish - not to mention a sprinkling of Balkan and klezmer.”

Stewart, Folk Club in Brighton, July 2015

“The Flying Sergeants were fantastic and made our evening reception really special. In the lead up to our wedding day, the band members were all so friendly and accommodating to all our queries and requests (some very last minute!) On the evening, the music got everyone on their feet dancing and having fun well into the night - even the staff were to be seen do-si-doing away in the kitchen! It was wonderful, thank you all.”

Caroline, Wedding in Southampton, June 2015

“Thanks again for playing at our family gathering! Everyone really enjoyed themselves, my Grandad was chuffed to hear all of the old classics from home and the children loved having a dance! Hearing you play really made for a special day, hope to see you again soon!”

Amanda & David, Private Party in Surrey, August 2014

“We just wanted to drop you a little note to say thank you so much for playing at our wedding. We and our guests loved the music and it was great to see even the sternest of Aunties jigging away! We'll look out for upcoming gigs and hope to see you perform again soon.”
