Laura & Dave’s Wedding | The Novembers

08 Oct

Laura and Dave had their perfect wedding at the scenic Dodmoor House in Northamptonshire. The Novembers delivered a lively and varied set of modern and classic hits, keeping the entire wedding party on their feet all evening!

I honestly could not praise the band highly enough. I have had numerous compliments about the band from guests of all ages!

Our wedding was held at Dodmoor House in Northamptonshire. It was very close to our hometown of Northampton. We wanted a venue where the ceremony and reception could all take place, which it could at Dodmoor and we fell in love with Dodmoor House the first time we saw it.

The venue allows you to book any suppliers you want (wedding bands, catering etc.) as well as having no corkage during the day, this means you can really have any type of wedding that you want and bring in any different suppliers that you like.

As we went through the planning process we realised just how good the staff at Dodmoor are – they are supportive on any of your plans and are quick to communicate with suppliers, even those that they have never had at the venue before.

Carolyn from Dodmoor House was a Godsend, she was so supportive in the lead up to the day, making sure that we had not missed any details and she even contacted suppliers to arrange arrival times etc. prior to the day.

On the day she ensured everything ran like clockwork. Any queries that the band, caterer, florist, photographer, in fact any supplier had went to Carolyn and it meant that Laura and I were able to enjoy our day without thinking about any of the finer details.

We had a string quartet during the arrival of guests, ceremony and drinks reception. Laura played a clarinet when she was younger and we both love the sound of live music. We thought that having the live quartet would add to the occasion slightly.

We found Function Central on Google. We looked through a lot of wedding bands in Northamptonshire and the surrounding areas and listened to the samples available and viewed bands’ song-lists. Having selected a few that we liked we got in touch with Function Central to discuss as our venue had a decibel limit. They were quick to advise which bands would fit within this limit.

We decided on The Novembers band because the music that they listed in their repertoire had the most songs that we enjoy listening to (a combination of modern hits and also classic rock songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s), plus their demos sounded fantastic!

The band arrived promptly and seemed to set up in no time at all. Right on cue they introduced us into the room as husband and wife for us to cut the cake before performing our first dance. They got the guests excited and the atmosphere was brilliant as we walked in to cut the cake. Everything was just perfect.

I honestly could not praise the band highly enough. Before the event I communicated with the band via phone and e-mail and provided them all of the information for when and where we wanted them to play. The band also put together a set list for us based on the songs that they most often get requested. The band were very accommodating to the changes that we made to this playlist and we ended up with three sets of really upbeat, lively music.

They had guests up and dancing throughout their sets and the music that they played during the intervals kept the atmosphere throughout the evening. At the end of the evening and since the event I have had numerous compliments for The Novembers from guests of all ages.

Suppliers

The whole of the wedding was a huge success and it would not have been the same without the suppliers but to select a few to mention here:

Photography: George Mahood

A lovely relaxed style of photography, nice candid style and upwards of 700 photos taken on the day itself.

Catering: Beetroot Catering

Genuinely incredibly good food and a brilliant price. Restaurant quality, served very professionally out of the venues kitchen, which they had not used before. Very accommodating to all of the changes that we kept making even up to the week before the wedding.

Catering: Ian Brodie

We actually had a beef roast as we had pork for the wedding breakfast. It was brilliant, it created an atmosphere in the courtyard of the venue which was brilliant and the food was great too.

Chocolates: Bella Cacao Chocolates

We had some favors custom made from Bella Cacao. It was fun tasting a few samples to pick flavours and they are another element of the day that the guests have just continued to compliment ever since.
