Real weddings

Vicky and Dave always wanted a soul band with brass and Party Up didn't disappoint. Copinger Hall was the venue for their English garden wedding with Arabic touches.

Vicky & Dave

Our wedding was in a marquee in the grounds of Copinger Hall in Suffolk. We chose this because it is the garden of our neighbours, next door to the church we were getting married in!

We love to have fun, hence choreographing a fun wedding dance to get everyone straight in the dance floor. We wanted a fun vibe with a very British garden wedding with a hint of Arabic (as we currently live in Dubai).

We were aiming for class (morning suits & hats) but with fake camel heads and signage making the wedding fun and 'us'.

Thank you Party Up!! The atmosphere was amazing!

Therefore the music was a continuation of what Dave and I like - live music with a blues voice - we love this sound! We also love the sound of brass instruments so the saxophone was a definite must.

Then we saw the video of the band playing 'Happy' and we were sold!

We wanted as many people dancing as possible; this was the lasting feeling we wanted our guests to go away with and this was achieved, even on a hot Suffolk summers night.

Live music is something Dave and I love. Therefore there was not even a discussion regarding having live music or not... we were having it!

We wanted a great voice and a brass instrument (sax preferably) and started our search. We took time in deciding and went above budget but Party Up's demos and videos online had a great feel to them, hence why we chose them and decided they were worth it.

The singer's voice and all the musicians together had the sound & vibe we were after.

Our favourite moments of the wedding? Too many to decide... EVERYTHING!

Our first dance to Party Up's 'Higher & Higher' was awesome and the way everyone was so professional and everything fell into place was amazing! The whole event ran smoothly. Great day overall!

My sister booked her wedding band through Function Central so we started looking at their website - first their Suffolk wedding bands, then further afield.

We did look elsewhere but came back to Function Central because they seemed professional, had been running successfully for a while and the bands had great reviews.

Function Central as an agency were extremely helpful - phone calls and emails assisted us in choosing the right musicians for us.

Party Up were an extremely professional band. We were worried about them setting up whilst we were eating because we had the stage right in the middle of the marquee, but it was no problem at all barely noticeable with everyone chatting.

They were amazing, exactly what we hoped for, blues vocals and amazing musicians playing old school tunes as well as current numbers.

We chose 'Higher & Higher' as our first dance and made up a few moves to entertain everyone and have a memorable first dance. It went down very well with our guests - thank you Party Up!!

The atmosphere was amazing and the overwhelming comments we got from our guests about Party Up tells us how much they added to our special day. The variety of songs they had playing during their break still kept our guests dancing too!

The band even involved the crowd with sing-along moments, it was great. I didn't want to leave, but the bride and groom had to make their exit at midnight!

Our advice for other couples? Use Function Central for your band - highly recommend Party Up. For the whole event: if you want less stress, give someone else (who's trust worthy) the job of coordinating all the services on the day! But it saves money doing it yourself.

Suppliers

Photographer - Adam Cash Photography
Extremely genuine guy who mingled with everyone during the event. Wasn't in our faces and aimed to capture our day as it happened - not just posed photos.

Videographer - HandcraftPictures
Toby Sleigh-Johnson and assistant - a great pair that again, were not in our faces for the whole day. Both lovely genuine guys who were extremely discreet throughout the day. Still waiting for the film - excited!

Flowers - Carol at Boundary Flowers, Boundary Farm, Suffolk
An independent florist who astounded me with what she did for our wedding. She grasped the colours and textures I was after and more. Stunning.

Catering - Smugglers Catering, Hadleigh
Simon and Ros highly recommended. A quietly confident and laid back couple who pulled off amazing food! They trusted us with asking for 15 joints of beef for us to carve at our own tables. They catered individual meals for those with food allergies & intolerances that were equally tasty and greatly appreciated. Ros was amazing front of house, managing to keep up with the drink demand on a hot summers day and caring for our suppliers cheacking when they wanted to eat! The quantity and quality of the food was amazing and great value for money. Very impressed.

Marquee - Anglia Coastal Marquees
Amazing organisation from Chris and team. So many choices and options given to us, really relaxed with any amendments and changes we made (no problems at all) and overall a very professional service, high quality with great attention to detail. Everything looked perfect.

Dress - Mia Sposa in Cambridge
Lovely team of ladies. Some drama over whether it would make it on time (designer decided to remake it from scratch) but it did! It was a stunning Ronald Joyce dress.

Cake - The cake was amazing, made by my Aunt Janet Gooding, who should be a professional cake maker

Cars - The cars were loaned to us by Jason Bullard & Richard Evans family friends - both beautiful vintage cars.

There were so many more people involved that made our day - it seriously is the best day of your life!
