Acoustic wedding band FAQs

What's an acoustic band?

Acoustic bands feature predominantly acoustic instruments such as acoustic guitars and upright bass, for an unplugged feel.

Acoustic bands often replace full drum kit with cajon drums, tambourines or a simplified drum kit, allowing for an evening line-up rhythmic enough for dancing, without being too overpowering.

What kind of music do your acoustic wedding bands play?

Our acoustic wedding bands typically play a wide range of songs spanning various genres and eras. You can expect to hear rock, soul and Motown as well as modern indie, dance and R&B – but all arranged for acoustic instruments.

Some of our acoustic bands specialise in indie folk music, in the style of Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers and Noah and The Whale, but are still likely to play pop music from all eras.

Most of the bands listed here perform popular music, but we've also included other bands featuring instruments, such as dixieland, gypsy jazz and brass bands.

Do acoustic bands bring all their own equipment?

Yes. All our acoustic wedding and party bands come fully self-contained with everything they need for the performance. You'll just need to provide a safe performance area, and access to standard domestic plug sockets.

Most larger line-ups will also bring stage lighting, but check their individual profile pages for more details.

Can my acoustic wedding band play in different spots at my venue?

In most cases, yes. Since they don't rely heavily on amplification, acoustic bands can readily adapt to different acoustics – from intimate indoor spaces to outdoor ceremonies to stage shows in the evening. They also tend to use less equipment than a typical function band, making it easier to re-set equipment in a different part of your venue.

Lastly, using your acoustic band for your wedding ceremony or drinks reception, as well as the evening party, saves on the extra expense and hassle of hiring a separate act.

Will your acoustic wedding bands learn my first dance?

Very likely, yes - most of our acoustic wedding bands will consider learning your first dance, often without an additional charge. However this depends on the complexity of the song, and how much rehearsal time will be required.

Just let us know your request as soon as you can and we'll run it past the band.

How long will the band play for?

Our acoustic bands typically perform for two hours, split over 2 x 1-hour or 3 x 40-minute sets with short intervals.

But bands can play for less time, or longer (usually for an additional cost) if it suits your event better.

Do your acoustic bands need access to a power supply?

Yes, in most cases. Although our acoustic bands feature acoustic instruments, these will still need to be amplified in order to be heard above the crowd noise, especially acts featuring a vocalist.

Can you provide acoustic musicians for my wedding drinks or meal?

Yes - we have acoustic guitarists (both instrumental or with vocals), which are ideal for ceremonies, receptions and wedding meals as well as acoustic duos.

Acoustic musicians are ideal for a summery, unplugged vibe at garden wedding redeptions as well as venues with noise restrictions.
