Gallagher Bassett, insurance administrators, hosted their annual Christmas bash at The Grange Tower Bridge Hotel in London and booked 3-piece party band Blue Suede Shoes to entertain 80 staff members.
We've hosted our Christmas parties at the Grange Hotels for the last few years, and their staff helped me organise the event.
The band were definitely the best part of the event - they got everyone up and dancing
The dance floor was at the far end of the room, and tables with white linen tablecloths were towards the back. There were round tables with centrepieces of flowers in thin, tall vases.
Lighting set the mood, with a Christmassy red. There was also a projector showing pictures of last years' Christmas party, including candid shots of people from the company!
On the left side of the room were some tables with snacks, and dotted around the room were small round tables for people to stand and drink at. Those were popular for people who didn’t want to dance, as they could rest their drinks and survey the scene.
We browsed Function Central's London wedding bands and chose Blue Suede Shoes because we were impressed with their music clips on the website. And we liked the name!
We were very satisfied with Blue Suede Shoes! They were punctual and polite, the music was great and the songs were just right for the age range of the audience.
The band were definitely the best part of the event - they got everyone up and dancing!
The songs went down very well, especially Dock Of The Bay, The Locomotion, The Jungle Book song and...
... 'If You Like Pina Coladas'!
There was a pretty great conga line during the second set, and even I got dragged into the dance floor at one point!
We found Function Central through Google and you had a good variety of bands.
The hotel supplied the food. We had a champagne reception
to start with, and canapés - followed by a hot buffet before the band
came on.
Incredible party and wedding band playing vintage rock and soul as well as recent pop, at a price that won’t break the bank! Book extra musicians (keyboards and sax), an afternoon acoustic set or an optional Irish set.
