What people say Help

  • The band were great. Really good vibe and they were just what we wanted. They were able to do a song for our first dance and it was just perfect!

Jonathan, Wedding at Cripps Barn, Cirencester, July 2017
  • Well, what can I say... other than totally awesome! Such talent - Helen's voice is remarkable, she is so gifted. The boys were just brilliant too. All so natural and made my night perfect. Everyone kept saying how good they were on the night and to date. I've already been asked for details for my friends party. So much talent in four gorgeous people. Thanks so much!

Karen, 50th Birthday Party at The Cantley House Hotel, Wokingham, June 2017
  • I can't believe it was 4 weeks ago now, so sorry this email hasn't come sooner but I just wanted to give you and the band a massive thank you for our wedding at Preston Court. You were absolutely brilliant, so talented and got everyone up and dancing. We had so many compliments for you guys, people said you played such a good range of music, that you were great musicians and that they thought you were just amazing. I know we would have loved the party to go on with many more hours with you.
And thank you for adapting around our timings, I know everything went a bit haywire during our meal so we were running really behind.
Let me know if there's anywhere I can leave a testimonial for you and thank you again.

Sophie & Ross, Wedding, Kent, June 2017
  • The Sweet and Lowdown were absolutely fantastic!! We were a bit nervous as we had booked them based on one video online, however we needn't have worried. They played two sets for us and had everyone dancing all night long. It was such a great mix of songs - from the 90s mix to the Disney classics. So many people commented on how good they were. Really recommend! Thank you!!!

Rebecca, Wedding at Shustoke Farm Barns, Warwickshire, May 2017
  • We loved the band, their sound was exactly what we where looking for! They accommodated our first dance request and played the majority of the songs in our preferred set list.

Mike, Wedding at WestHeath Centre, Sevenoaks, April 2017
  • Function Central have an amazingly diverse range of bands to choose from and were really helpful. We went for The Sweet & Lowdown as they were something different from the normal wedding band and not too cheesy! The band were brilliant and were really lovely and played a range of songs to suit all tastes. After a break they adapted to the younger people's tastes - we had them to the end of the night and my dad stole the show with his dance moves!

Roz, Wedding at Keston Village Hall, Bromley, April 2017
  • The Sweet & Lowdown were excellent at our wedding - our guests loved them, and people were dancing the whole time! We loved the mixture of old and new songs, and they also learnt a song for our first dance which was very well done. Very friendly, arrived on time and all round great. Thank you!

    Jasmine, Wedding, Kent, May 2017
  • The act were great at communicating via phone and email before our wedding and when they arrived set up with no fuss at all. The music was AMAZING and they judged the crowd perfectly with a brilliant 90s set half way through! Our first dance, the songs we'd asked for and their interaction with the crowd was perfect!

    Katy, Wedding, Andover, February 2017
  • The Sweet & Lowdown were absolutely fabulous and created the most perfect vibe for our daytime celebration. They could really swing and they sounded just fantastic. They were a pleasure to have around and so friendly and obviously enjoyed what they were playing... and so all our guests enjoyed it too! We had so many compliments and we couldn't have been more thrilled. Thanks Function Central for helping to make it a day to remember!

Karen, Private Party, Middlesex, January 2017
  • Hi all, I just wanted to say a quick thank you for playing at our wedding in Cardiff last week. We knew you were going to be excellent but all guests have been raving about how good you were. Everyone enjoyed the range of songs played... You even got Alex's 91 year old grandad up and dancing (he hasn't stopped talking about the fun he had). I'm absolutely gutted I was hijacked and didn't get to dance to you playing!... Thank you also for being good sports when the dregs of us were taking over your iPad to choose songs to dance to as you were packing up! I will be recommending you to all friends/brides to be... See you again at our vow renewal in years to come!

    Cari, Wedding, Cardiff, December 2016
  • They were completely brilliant - everyone was up and dancing for the whole time they were playing. The band even gave in to our 'one more song' requests! I've had so much praise for them, particularly from other musicians who were at the wedding!

Isobel & Chris, Wedding, Salisbury, December 2016
  • We cannot praise The Sweet & Lowdown enough for playing so brilliantly at our wedding on Saturday. Everyone LOVED you and I've already had people asking about where they can book you for their weddings! The dancefloor was packed all night and we were delighted when our cries of 'one more song' paid off! Thank you so much, you really made our evening.

    Isobel, Wedding, Kent, November 2016
  • This is the second time we have booked the band for our corporate fundraiser via Function Central and they are brilliant!

Caroline, Corporate Fundraiser, London, November 2016
  • The performers were really very good and the music they sang pleased a wide variety of guests. They were very professional in set up and at the end of the night. We would definitely hire them again for another event/ function!

    Ajesh, Wedding, Surrey, October 2016
  • The Sweet & Lowdown were absolutely outstanding. The party was a mix of cultures and they handled such a varied mix of people really well. I have to say that I have zero complaints. What I particularly liked about the band was that they have their own unique sound & style.

Mindy , Wedding, Gloucestershire, September 2016
  • We were absolutely thrilled with the band. Even my gran who was 86 at the time wanted to get up and dance. Their engagement with us and with our friends and family was great and the sound set up was perfect. They picked such a great choice of songs, I barely left the dance floor throughout the entire evening!

    Clare, Wedding, Pangbourne, August 2016
  • Extremely satisfied!! The Sweet and Lowdown were absolutely fantastic on the night - our dancefloor was full all night, and they played a brilliantly varied set which kept everyone entertained and engaged. Incredibly accommodating as we overran on dinner and speeches, and they played later than planned. They also allowed my groom to indulge his passion for keys by allowing him to play with them! So happy we went with this band and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone else thinking about booking them.

    Debbie, Wedding, Sherborne, August 2016
  • Extremely satisfied. We hired the band to play the ceremony, the afternoon reception and then the evening party. They played a good variety of music that created the perfect atmosphere for each part. The band arrived in good time, were flexible in terms of set up to fit in with the various elements of the day and were good natured and friendly throughout. They learnt a song specific to the day, which Emma walked down the aisle to, and they played it beautifully. Their music during the signing of the register moved Emma's mother - who had held it together until then - to tears.
Ever since our wedding, all our friends and family can talk about is how good the band were. We've heard how they got people dancing who never dance and how they're the best wedding band they've ever seen (from someone who is in a wedding band)! We had an amazing time ourselves as so many of the songs had relevance to different people there - from 'Happy' for Emma's university friends, 'Come on Aileen' for the uncles, and of course Call me Al' for Al - which got everyone very excited!
We couldn't have been happier with the band and would definitely recommend them. We have already given their name to a few of our guests who have asked, and are already wondering if we could have them again for our 40ths!

    Alex, Wedding Alfristor, June 2016
  • Hello! Just wanted to say many thanks for your wonderful set at our wedding on Saturday 4th June at Hillfields Farm. You had everyone dancing the whole night and personally I couldn't stay away from the dance floor when you were playing! Thanks also for your great rendition of our first dance song, we really enjoyed that moment. We chose you for our wedding after we had seen you at a good friends' reception and I hope that more of my friends do the same so that we get to see you again!

Jack & Stella, Wedding, Berkshire, June 2016
  • We wanted to say a massive thank you for playing at our wedding at the end of May, you were amazing! A huge range of tunes, brilliantly played - all of our guests loved it, couldn't stop dancing and the chants for 'one more song' at the end said it all. The feedback since has been incredible - many have said you were the best wedding band they'd ever seen. Thanks again so much.

If you are thinking about hiring this band, do not hesitate - you will have a brilliant time!!

Emma & Alex, Wedding, Surrey, May 2016
  • Hi all, Just a message to say thanks for making it a great evening, everyone had so much fun! So happy we booked you guys. All the best!

Craig and Jodie, Wedding, Brighton, May 2016
  • The band was brilliant! Many of our guests were complimenting how good you guys were and I really do believe it added a different edge to our wedding. The range of songs you sang was perfect and really did get everyone up dancing. I'm sure you may have had a few laughs, watching our friends and families dance and have fun. Claire and I would also like to thank you for singing and playing our first dance. As asked, it felt like it had a little more tempo to it. Claire bless her was awfully nervous, but I hope you'll agree we did ok? Thank you again for making our day perfect.

Jack and Claire, Wedding, Hampshire, February 2016
  • The Sweet & Lowdown were absolutely incredible on our wedding day. An amazing repertoire of music which was so in tune with our favourite songs, it was almost spooky! Even now in November, four months later, our wedding guests are still commenting on how incredible the band were! Our day was simply amazing and The Sweet & Lowdown were the icing on the cake. Polite, helpful, talented and an energetic!

Stewart & Anna, Wedding, Sussex, July 2015
  • What better way to pay testimony to a band than a packed dance floor full of happy dancing and singing guests! We absolutely loved The Sweet & The Lowdown who played at our wedding - they were flawless musicians with a really excellent set list that kept us calm with seamless and smooth last minute time changes due to our schedule overrunning! We would highly recommend them to other couples looking for the perfect live band - they were the best!

    Claire, Wedding, Surrey, August 2015
  • They were absolutely incredible, from the booking and follow up calls they were professional and polite, they did everything to help with our requests including structuring a set list around our preferences and even took the time to learn a new song for our first dance. When they arrived they set up quickly and without any fuss and once they started playing we knew we'd made the right choice... They sounded awesome, don't hesitate to book this band, everyone was up dancing and their style is brilliant, slightly quirky and lot's of fun. Their rendition of the Black Keys 'Everlasting Light' for our first dance was excellent we were so pleased that they took the time to learn the song and add it to their playlist. Simply brilliant, all our guests commented on how good they were and how they made the whole wedding such a great day, thanks guys!

    Jonathan, Wedding, Kent, August 2015

  • Thank you so much for your brilliant sets at our wedding on 30th March! All our guests were raving about you, especially your version of Paul Simon's 'Call me Al' (and the impromptu conga line it generated - our friends clearly didn't understand out 'no cheese' policy :)) and the gorgeous rendition of 'Everlasting Light' for the first dance. You were all brilliant!

    Rose, Wedding, Suffolk, March 2015
  • Just wanted to let the band know that we have had SO much great feedback about you guys, everyone loved what you did!! I’ve passed Function Central's details to several people who are interested in hiring you for weddings/parties this year. I fear I was a little worse for wear by the time we bumped into each other later in the evening, but I hope you had everything you needed and were able to enjoy the evening yourselves. Again, thank you for a fantastic evening.

Natasha, Corporate event, Oxfordshire, January 2015
  • We were both very happy with the performance of the band. They had such a great range of songs yet all in their individual style that we enjoyed so much from their showreel. All the band members were very friendly and had good banter with the guests and they seemed to enjoy how much we all enjoyed them and their sets.

    Richard, Wedding, Warminster, December 2014

Natalie, Birthday Party, Brighton, September 2014
  • We booked The Sweet & Lowdown to play our wedding on 5th September 2014, after falling in love with their songs on the website. They were absolutely amazing! Such a talented group of musicians, also very friendly and professional. They were set up and ready to go in no time, with no fuss. They performed our first dance song which sounded fantastic! And the rest of the playlist was brilliant. They play such a diverse range of songs, there is something for everyone to enjoy. They had everybody up and dancing and created the best atmosphere for a party - which is exactly what we wanted for our wedding reception.

If you are on the fence trying to decide… BOOK THIS BAND!! You will not be disappointed! Thank you to The Sweet & Lowdown for making an already perfect day even better!

Gareth & Laura, Wedding, Berkshire, September 2014

Ben & Claire , Wedding, Suffolk, September 2014
  • Leah and I are so happy that we booked you for our wedding. You were professional, friendly, accommodating (especially to four year olds wanting to play drums and sing!) and most of all sounded absolutely fantastic. I have had a lot of people comment on how good you were. Thank you for playing the music to our first dance, it was perfect. The range of music you played fitted the theme and mood of the wedding perfectly and helped the whole evening build to a crescendo of utter madness and fun.

Thanks again so much. We'll never forget our day and you played a large part in that. Be assured that we will be recommending you to everyone!

You and the guys made our reception a very special event indeed, and your singing and playing have been much talked about and admired by all our family and friends. Once again, thank you so much!

Tracey & Brian, Wedding, Cambridge, December 2013
  • We were very satisfied with the act. They were punctual, professional, lovely people. They played a fantastic set and our guests commented the whole night, about how great they were. Not your usual cheesy wedding band at all. Would thoroughly recommend this band.

Tracey, Wedding, East Yorkshire, October 2013
  • I'm sorry it's taken so long to email to thank you guys for doing such an awesome job of playing at our wedding. We were really really happy with the job you did, you were brilliant, as we suspected you would be! Thank you for playing the songs we requested, Clare really enjoyed all the Disney and my friends and I loved the Beatles, especially Mr Postman. 3 of us play Beatles covers in Australia and that song is one of our favourites to do - it was unanimously agreed that you did a great job, the harmonies sounded great! Thank you very much for leaving the music running while you were taking stuff down, the guests loved having more dancing time, as I'm sure you could see. Thank you so much again, please pass on our thanks to the rest of the band and do let me know if there's anything we can do for you guys.

    Tom, Wedding, Bath, September 2013
  • Thanks so much for playing at my wedding yesterday. Everyone said how great you sounded, we loved everything you played. We had to rush off as our baby was desparate for sleep, so sorry we never got a chance to say 'bye. Thanks again!

    Karen, Wedding, September 2013
  • On behalf of me and my wife Karin, you guys were amazing at our Wedding. You really had people dancing from the get go until the end. Very impressed. Thank you guys Xx

Kevin & Karin, Wedding, Surrey, September 2013

    Domie, Wedding, July 2013
  • Thanks so much for an amazing performance. Everyone loved you guys. You had everyone dancing all night!

    Nico, Wedding, June 2013
  • The Sweet & Lowdown were brilliant. They were very friendly and professional. The music was fantastic and we have had lots of positive feedback; people have been asking how to contact them!
They were a pleasure to work with and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to others and would book them again anyday!

Claire, Speakeasy Ball, Surrey, June 2013
  • We were very satisfied. They were great fun and played the PERFECT sort of music! All our guests were glued to the dance floor and thought they were awesome. We also were very very happy with them. They were really nice people, thanks guys.

Nicholas , Wedding, Essex, May 2013
  • A new band but with an old soul, this group of revellers – fur coats, vintage mic, trumpet and all – filled the dance floor from first to last song. The song choices were all so fun and well produced that as soon as you took a breather from dancing, you were forced straight back up. A cover of King of The Swingers was a highlight, and our first dance song, Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac, was virtually the original. I can't recommend The Sweet & Lowdown enough. Gush!

Rosie & James, Wedding, Isle of Wight, December 2012
  • The Sweet & Lowdown are experienced beyond their years, read the audience well and have a wide, energetic and polished catalogue of covers and original material at their disposal. All vocalists were excellent and were both a pleasure to listen to and extremely versatile across their sets. The band's friendly personalities really shine through when they play. The Sweet & Lowdown looked great and have a great individual style when playing their own, accomplished tracks.

Becky & Dave, Wedding, London, November 2012
  • The Sweet & Lowdown were such an easy addition to the day, they made no fuss and given prior notice of the music we wanted for our first dance, they absolutely nailed it! We could not have asked for a better, more entertaining group to help us celebrate. We felt we had a real personal service from them and that we were not just another generic wedding gig – this is just what we wanted. The Sweet & Lowdown are a young, imaginative and refreshing alternative to some of the tired and predictable circuit musicians offered to us when we began our search. It is worth noting that since our big day, we have had excellent comments about the music from almost every group in attendance, from the serious dancers, the oldies, the music lovers and the younger party boys and girls. This widespread praise is testament to their inclusive set list and accomplished sound.

Victoria & Dave, Wedding, Reading, August 2012
