The majority of our London wedding bands feature a lead vocalist and perform rock, pop and soul music from all eras – ideal for bringing guests of all ages together to celebrate.
Smaller line-ups such as a 3-piece or 4-piece tend to lean towards guitar-based rock, pop and indie. Larger line-ups that feature keyboards and brass tend to perform more of a soul, R&B and pop-based repertoire.
If modern music isn't your bag, consider a ceilidh, brass or swing band instead – browse the links at the top of this page for more options.
Our London wedding bands all come fully equipped for your event, though it’s worth getting in touch if you are expecting your event to exceed 250 guests, as extra equipment could be necessary.
You just need to make sure that the band has a power source to plug in to and a space to perform! We recommend a flat and sheltered stage area of at least 3x3 meters for a 3-piece band – then add an extra metre squared per band member that you have booked.
A raised stage is preferable for maximum impact but our bands are flexible to all kinds of spaces!
Our London function bands typically arrive at your venue from 5pm or 6pm and take 60 - 90 minutes to unload, set up and soundcheck their equipment.
It’s ideal if a room can be cleared whilst they do this, but it’s not essential – they can perform a silent “line-check” to test their levels if not.
The band will then get dressed, eat and return at approximately 9pm to get your party started!
Most London function bands will perform for two hours – divided into two one-hour sets with interval music in between – though some bands can perform three 40-minute sets if preferred.
All of our bands can provide recorded interval music free of charge between their sets so the dancing never needs to stop!
It also means if your favourite song isn’t in the band’s repertoire you can still hear it – ideal!
If you want your wedding band to play your first dance, this can usually be arranged.
Check the act’s profile to see if they offer this option and try to give plenty of notice for them to learn your request.
Alternatively, all of our bands can play your first dance on an mp3 or iPod through their PA system.
Hire a brass and drums band for big brassy covers of pop songs everybody knows and loves. It's a refreshing alternative to a classic London function band.
If swing’s your thing, we have jazz bands for all parts of your day and you could even add a touch of glamour to your reception with a jazz trio – or hire a swing band for dancing in the evening.
Lastly you might prefer a wedding ceilidh band – it’s great way of getting guests of all ages dancing and some can also provide a ‘caller’ to teach you the steps.
Before you book more musicians for afternoon background music, check whether members of your evening band can provide this – it'll save you additional costs, such as travel.
If you haven't yet set your date, consider booking a midweek or winter celebration to take advantage of the most competitive rates.
Always consider hiring a function band from your local area, to save on travel and accommodation costs. We have musicians and bands based in most major towns and cities across the UK.
From Bowie in Brixton and The Clash in Camden, to the Beatles in Abbey Road – London's popular music legacy is felt across the world.
