Where did you get married?

We got married at St Stephen’s in Hampstead, which turned out to be the perfect choice for us. The building itself is absolutely stunning — full of history, character and beautiful architectural details — and being set in such a charming part of London made the whole experience feel even more special. It had that grand, romantic atmosphere we were hoping for without feeling overly formal or intimidating.

Our reception took place at The Old Finsbury Town Hall, another venue we fell in love with straight away. Its art nouveau interior, with sweeping staircases, ornate design and gorgeous lighting, created a spectacular backdrop for the evening. It felt like stepping into a classic, glamorous London celebration.

Function Central were absolutely brilliant throughout the whole planning process and on the day itself. The acts we hired were both fantastic — professional, warm, and exactly the vibe we were hoping for.

Why did you decide to book live music for the day?

Music has always been hugely important to both of us, and we firmly believe it’s one of the things guests remember most vividly. So we knew from the beginning that having great live acts throughout the day would completely transform the atmosphere.

We chose Jon because his repertoire was so versatile and his performance videos sounded fantastic — we could instantly imagine him fitting in perfectly during the reception. And Billie’s voice is simply beautiful; the moment we heard her, we knew we wanted her to be part of the ceremony. Together, they brought such warmth and personality to the day and helped create moments that felt truly magical.

What were your favourite moments of the day?

There were so many unforgettable moments, but the ceremony stands out above everything else. Walking in with Billie singing was incredibly emotional — her voice filled the space and set the tone so perfectly. It’s a moment we’ll never forget.

Another highlight was the journey from the ceremony to the reception. Getting the buses with all our guests created this wonderful sense of togetherness and excitement — it felt like the celebration started the second we all stepped onboard.

At the reception, one of the standout moments was when Jon played Your Song and the entire room started singing along. It was spontaneous and heartfelt, and seeing everyone joining in together was something really special.

How did you come across Function Central?

We first discovered Function Central while searching online for wedding singers, and that’s how we found Billie. Once we saw her videos and listened to her repertoire, we knew she would be perfect for our ceremony. From there, we explored their pianist roster and found Jon, whose style and versatility immediately caught our attention.

The site is really easy to use, with a vast choice of musicians and the ability to watch demo videos before booking, which makes it much easier to picture how the act will fit into your day. Function Central were absolutely brilliant from start to finish — the whole process was quick, smooth, and stress-free. Both acts we booked were outstanding, professional, and delivered exactly what we hoped for, making the experience effortless and enjoyable.

What did you think of Jon Jones and Billie C?

Billie was incredible — her voice was even more beautiful in person than we had imagined, and her repertoire was perfect for our ceremony. She brought so much warmth and emotion to the day; walking down the aisle while she sang is a memory we will treasure forever.

Jon was also absolutely brilliant. Many of our guests commented that he was one of the highlights of the day. Not only did he sound amazing, but he also got everyone in the room singing and dancing, creating a real party atmosphere at the reception. On top of that, he was incredibly kind and accommodating — we were running a bit behind schedule, and he was patient and flexible the entire time. We would wholeheartedly recommend Jon to anyone looking for a talented, professional, and genuinely lovely musician.

What advice would you give other couples planning a wedding?

Our main advice would be to follow your instincts and do exactly what you’ve always wanted for your day. If that means taking a risk with something a little different, go for it — it often creates the moments everyone remembers most.

We’d also recommend booking acts that can cover a wide range of music to suit all tastes. Weddings bring together people from different generations and musical preferences, and having a band or musician who can play classics as well as contemporary favourites really keeps everyone engaged. A timeless classic always goes down a treat and brings guests together — it’s the perfect way to create memories that last long after the day is over.
