The Moonshiners are a multi-talented ceilidh band whose sole aim is creating a fun, upbeat atmosphere for dancing and merry-making for all!

The band’s frontman is not only an outstanding vocalist, but he’s also mastered the fiddle, guitar, banjo, mouth organ and squeeze box! He’s been on the London folk club and session scene since he was a teen, recorded material with old-time virtuoso Kate Lissauer and was voted “Folk Idol” of the year in 2007!

The Moonshiners were fantastic, the music was wonderful and they were such accomplished musicians! Christine, 70th Birthday Party, Norfolk

Performing alongside him is a classically trained pianist and self-taught tin whistle virtuoso, and a fantastic bodhran player who learned traditional Irish drumming in the Comhaltas organisation, but can play other genres as diverse as psychedelic folk and old-time.

The core members of the band founded and run the highly successful Portland Folk Club in Cambridge, now into its second year. The club hosted an acoustic tent at the Cambridge Folk Festival last year.

For ceilidhs and barn dances the band can provide their own expert caller to lead guests through the steps.

Flexible, friendly and approachable, they will do their utmost to tailor their set to your requirements.
