Where did your birthday party take place and why did you choose this particular venue/location?

The celebration took place in the Sakura private dining room at Ivy Asia, Mayfair. We chose this venue because we wanted something truly special—somewhere with a fun atmosphere, fantastic food, and a fabulous central location.

The Sakura room also features a large faux blossom tree, which felt especially meaningful to us. It reminded us of our wedding at The Langham, London during the Chelsea Flower Show ten years ago, where a beautiful faux blossom tree was displayed in the lobby.

What sort of look/feel/theme did you try to create on the day?

For the party, I wanted to create an environment where we could dance around with our closest friends as if we were in our own living room, but with a glamorous, elevated twist. In the end, it turned out exactly as I had imagined.

Why did you book live music for the day, and why did you choose PYT in particular?

Live music brings an energy that nothing else can match, and we wanted to go all out and give our guests something memorable. We chose this act after watching their videos and immediately feeling that they were perfect for the occasion—their vibe, song choices, and performance style were exactly what we were looking for.

As an 80s baby who grew up in the 90s and 2000s, their repertoire felt spot on for the atmosphere we wanted to create.

What were your favourite moments of the day?

Honestly, every moment was wonderful, but the live act was the standout highlight of the evening.

Their performance was flawless, engaging, and full of energy. The DJ, saxophonist, and singer were all incredible, and they genuinely felt like part of our intimate party. Thank you so much, ladies!

How did you find Function Central and why did you choose to book with us?

We discovered Function Central through a combination of Google searches and Instagram. The communication from the team was fantastic from start to finish, and we felt well looked after throughout the entire process. Thank you for making everything so smooth and enjoyable.

What advice would you give other brides/grooms or event organisers?

Definitely book live music—and add the little extras, like a saxophonist, if you can. It elevates the entire experience and is absolutely worth it. Even long after the event, people will still be commenting on how amazing and fun the music was. In the end, it’s all about the dancing!

Dress: Aje - Incredible dress, well-made, and fun!! Felt amazing wearing it.

Shoes: Jimmy Choo A gift from my best friends. Special to wear on the evening.

Hair: Percy & Reed – My husband organised for my hair [and make up] to be done as a surprise. Stylist Choccy was so fun to hang out with for those few hours which kicked off the celebrations. My hair stayed all evening and was perfectly paired with my outfit.

Make up: Team Glam — Bio Sites - Came as a recommendation from one of my friends, after my husband sort help! Make up is a such a personal thing and I loved it. A sleek service, from the comfort of my hotel room. The makeup artist knew what suited me and the look I wanted to achieve. She incorporated my own make up so I could easily reapply when needed.

Cake: Laura’s London. A surprise organised by my friend. Delicious, pretty, and delivered straight to the venue. No worries at all!

Events Team: HeadStart Events – provided personable service and helped with furniture. They are always such a pleasure!

Venue: Ivy Asia, Mayfair – looked after us from start to finish, very easy and pleasant to work with.
