Real weddings

Brass fusion outfit The Brasstones mingled with the crowd and lent a joyful, festival vibe to Hannah and Mat's rustic, DIY wedding at Deepdale Farm in Yorkshire.

Where did your event take place?

We got married at Deepdale Farm in Keldholme, North Yorkshire. From the moment we saw it, we knew it was exactly what we’d been looking for. We’d always hoped for a wedding that felt as DIY, relaxed and rustic as possible — something that reflected us as a couple — and Deepdale was the perfect match in every way.

The venue has two big, characterful barns and a huge camping field set right in the heart of the stunning North Yorkshire Moors. The scenery alone made the place feel magical. We wanted to create a rustic, festival-style party atmosphere with lots of personal touches, outdoor space for dancing, and a bit of that “make yourself at home” vibe. Deepdale gave us the freedom to bring all of those ideas to life.

Why did you book live music for the day?

We’ve always loved the energy of a funky brass band — there’s something about brass instruments that instantly lifts the mood and gets people smiling — but we also really wanted a vocalist to give the performance extra warmth and versatility. Finding the right blend wasn’t easy, and we spent a long time searching for a band that ticked every box.

We started by looking specifically for Yorkshire-based wedding bands, hoping to keep things local, but eventually widened our search. That’s when we came across The Brasstones. Even though they’re based in Leicestershire, it wasn’t too far at all, and as soon as we heard them we knew they were the right choice.

The band absolutely exceeded expectations — they were genuinely incredible from start to finish. They were total professionals, but also so much fun, with brilliant showmanship and the confidence to mingle with guests. At one point they walked right out into the crowd with their instruments, creating such an electric atmosphere. It felt like a real festival moment and everyone loved it.

They were without doubt one of the highlights of our entire wedding. We would 100% recommend them to anyone looking for something unforgettable. We had so many guests come up to us afterwards complimenting them — they made a huge impression. Thank you so much, guys!

What were your favourite moments of the day?

There were so many special moments, but one that really stands out is dancing outside in the sunshine while the band wandered through the crowd playing around us. It captured exactly the vibe we wanted — relaxed, joyful, spontaneous and completely full of life. It felt like one of those perfect little pockets of time you never forget.

What advice would you give other brides/grooms or event organisers?

Book your suppliers as early as possible — the good ones get snapped up quickly, and it makes the planning stage so much smoother. And definitely prepare for things to get a bit chaotic or stressful in the week leading up to the wedding! Something always goes slightly pear-shaped, but it’s completely normal. Once the day arrives, everything falls into place and you genuinely won’t care about the little hiccups. Just enjoy it all — it goes by in a flash.
