We chose to get married at Lains Barn in Oxford, as it was conveniently located halfway between his parents and mine. The venue itself is beautiful — a traditional barn with so much character and charm, making it the perfect backdrop for our special day. It offered the flexibility to combine different elements, which was ideal for our unique wedding.

Since Haris’s parents are from Pakistan and mine are from the UK, we wanted to create a fusion of the two cultures. Our goal was to blend the rustic charm of a traditional barn wedding with vibrant elements of an Asian wedding. The result was a fun, colourful, and meaningful mix — we incorporated traditions from both cultures while keeping the day relaxed and celebratory. It felt personal, unique, and completely “us.”

We booked Agent Smith as our wedding band and from the start, we knew they would be perfect. In their pictures and videos, everyone was up and dancing — which was exactly the energy we wanted for our celebration. Plus, we loved the lead singer’s voice!

On the day, they exceeded our expectations. We would give them 10/10 without hesitation — they were absolutely superb. The performance felt like attending a rock concert for a famous band, with incredible energy, stage presence, and musicianship. The band kept the dance floor packed all night and created a truly unforgettable atmosphere.

There were so many memorable moments, but one that stands out was my sister, the maid of honour, grabbing the microphone and joining in with the band. It was hilarious, heartfelt, and made everyone laugh — a perfect memory we’ll always treasure.

Of course, seeing our families from different cultures come together and celebrate was another highlight. The energy, laughter, and pure joy throughout the day made it truly magical.

We found Function Central through an online search while looking for local wedding bands. Initially, we searched local wedding bands closer to Oxford, but eventually expanded our search further afield and came across Agent Smith, who are based in Manchester. Function Central made it so easy to view bands, watch videos, and compare options, which helped us feel confident we were booking the perfect act for our day.

Don’t stress too much about the small stuff — everyone is there to support you, and things will usually fall into place. Try to enjoy every moment and focus on being with your nearest and dearest. Book suppliers you trust, have fun with the process, and don’t worry if everything isn’t absolutely perfect — it’s the memories, laughter, and shared joy that matter most.
