Karen's 50th Birthday Party

We held my birthday party at home in a marquee in the garden, which felt so much more personal than hosting it in a hired venue. I really wanted the celebration to reflect me rather than feeling like a generic event space, and having it at home made everything more relaxed and intimate. The marquee gave us the best of both worlds — plenty of space for dancing and entertainment, but still rooted in the comfort of our own garden. It set the perfect scene for a party that felt fun, friendly, and full of personality.

Rockit were absolutely fantastic. They arrived on time, got everything set up smoothly, and were completely organised from the moment they turned up. Once they started playing, the whole atmosphere lifted — their brilliant music got almost everyone on the dance floor! They brought such an infectious energy that it was impossible not to join in. Seeing people of all ages having such a great time really made the evening feel special.

The theme for the night was “festival fun!”, and most guests really embraced it with their outfits. There were colourful clothes, glitter, accessories, and plenty of playful touches that added to the whole vibe. The marquee was decorated with pom poms, funky lighting, light cubes, and a glowing pink LED bar, which created a bright, vibrant and slightly whimsical festival atmosphere. As soon as guests walked in, the place felt alive and full of excitement.

Everyone was greeted with a cocktail at the entrance to the marquee, which was a lovely way to kick off the evening. It instantly put people in a celebratory mood and set the tone for the night ahead. I also hired two face painters and a magician for the first couple of hours, which added a fun and unexpected element. Guests loved it — the face painting brought out everyone’s playful side, while the magician kept groups entertained with close-up tricks and plenty of laughter.

We chose Rockit to play because we’d seen them before at a friend’s 40th birthday party. We absolutely loved them then and knew they would bring the same fun rock vibe to our own celebration. They didn’t disappoint — once again, they were a standout part of the night. Their performance was full of energy, charisma, and great song choices. Even my teenage sons were impressed, which is saying something!

Rockit were brilliant from start to finish — punctual, well-prepared, and so engaging with the crowd. Their music kept the dance floor full, and they helped create exactly the lively, feel-good atmosphere we were hoping for.

I genuinely loved the whole evening. It felt relaxed, personal, and full of joy — exactly the kind of party I wanted. With the music, the decorations, the entertainment, and all our friends and family together, it couldn’t have gone better. It was great fun from beginning to end.
