Our wedding took place at Broadfield Court in Hereford. We chose this venue because I have always dreamed of getting married outdoors and wanted a location that would allow us the freedom to turn the celebration into a full weekend event. Broadfield Court offered the perfect combination of beautiful grounds and relaxed flexibility.

We aimed for a deeply gothic, autumnal theme inspired by Morticia Addams, with a moody, atmospheric feel throughout. Rich colours, dramatic styling, and an overall mysterious elegance helped bring that vision to life.

We first saw The Sweet and Lowdown perform at my cousin’s wedding in Cornwall a few years earlier, and we didn’t leave the dance floor the entire night. We wanted to recreate that same incredible energy and fun for our own wedding, so choosing them felt like an obvious decision.

We had planned to have them before we even knew the venue! They are a must - every single guest said they are the best band they have ever seen at a wedding! The right music, the right vibe, and not a moment of empty dance floor.

Oddly, walking down the aisle! It was the moment I was just hoping to 'get out the way' so the fun could start. But when I was about to walk down the woodland path, I thought - actually this is beautiful! And seeing all the flowers, and the bright blue sky, and the autumnal leaves on the ground - I just knew it was going to be a great day!

My cousin mentioned that he had found the band through Function Central, so we decided to use the same booking platform. It made the process simple and familiar.

Trust the band! Helen completely understood the vibe we wanted, and the group knows exactly how to keep the crowd energised and on the dance floor.
