We decided to pick The Normans, York as the location was perfect for family and the venue looks stunning. It is covered with amazing lighting from the ceremony space to the evening dining/partying space.

The courtyard is great when the sun is out and the whole place has the ability to be so big, but feel like your guests are scattered everywhere.

We didn’t really think to deeply about a theme/look we just wanted to make sure people had a good time, so lots of touches that would make the guests feel comfortable and music that would make the guests want to get up and dance.

We wanted the aesthetics of our outfits to look classy and formal, but quite relaxed and fun when it came to activities and entertainment

We have found after going to a few weddings that music is one of the most important parts of the day. We dreaded an empty dance floor, but Manhattan made sure that did not happen.

The range of songs they had available and genre of music they specialise in was perfect for us, energetic and funky, but still youthful and cool.

Officially being married was the best of course, but then the food by Hog & Apple left everyone in shock with how amazing it was. We had steaks for our main meal and they were unbelievable.

Equal to that would be the band, Manhattan, and how much people were up on the dance floor grooving and not sat at a table awkwardly.

Manhattan were the coolest band! The guests were on the dance floor all night. The set list was banger after banger. The band’s vocals were top tier and musicians didn’t miss a beat. Everyone said they were the best band they’d seen at a wedding. We had people of all ages at our wedding and everyone was up dancing to Manhattan. Believe the hype the reviews are 100% accurate!

We found Function Central when searching for soul and motown bands - they were great. Their site offers an easy way to preview what the band is like, with videos and sound clips. But also set lists and easy to see pricing options.

I would recommend just going through their artists as your guaranteed to find one that suits you and communication with them was way and seamless.

Thinks don’t need to be expensive to make an impact with your guests. The little things go the furthest. We had flip-flops for tired feet, paper fans for when it got hot, mints and deodorant in the bathrooms. All very inexpensive but give the event an added touch.
