The London Book Festival Awards

The London Book Festival Awards celebrate the very best in international publishing, recognising outstanding achievements by authors, publishers, and literary innovators from around the globe. This prestigious event was fittingly held at The British Library, a venue that perfectly reflects the gravitas and cultural significance of the awards. With its world-class architecture, inspiring interiors, and of course, its unparalleled collection of books, the library provided an elegant and sophisticated backdrop for the evening. It was the ideal setting to honour the remarkable contributions of individuals and organisations shaping the literary world.

Andres, the classical guitarist we booked for the event, proved to be a perfect fit with the overall ambience. His music added a soft, elegant layer to the evening, complementing the sophisticated surroundings without ever overpowering the natural flow of conversation. The gentle melodies helped create a serene and welcoming atmosphere, giving guests time to relax and soak in the experience while moving between awards presentations and networking opportunities.

As the world’s greatest collection of books, The British Library is a venue with a sense of awe and inspiration. It was hard to imagine a more appropriate location to celebrate international publishing. Every corner of the library reflects centuries of knowledge and creativity, making it the perfect place to pay tribute to the authors and publishers who bring stories to life. Guests were able to enjoy the unique setting while being serenaded by Andres’ elegant guitar performance, making the event feel even more memorable and special.

Event organiser Bruce Haring discovered Andres through an online search for corporate entertainment in London. He was thrilled to come across an agency that could provide high-quality musical entertainment for his event: “The service I normally use for US bookings doesn’t have a UK division — I’m so glad I found you!” This connection made the booking process straightforward and stress-free, allowing Bruce to focus on the other aspects of the awards ceremony.

Bruce chose Andres specifically because he felt a classical guitarist would bring a soft, classy touch to the proceedings. As he explained, “He helped relax our guests during his performance slot and was a perfect fit with the ambience of the library.” Andres’ performance struck the ideal balance between sophistication and accessibility, providing the perfect background to an evening that combined celebration, networking, and cultural appreciation.

For other event planners, Bruce offered a few words of advice, delivered with his characteristic humour and wisdom: “Endeavor to persevere. Less is more. And never, ever play poker with a man named Doc.” While cryptic, his advice serves as a reminder that thoughtful planning, restraint, and a touch of humour can go a long way in ensuring an event is both successful and enjoyable for all involved.
