This outstanding traditional ceilidh band are excellent value for money. Available with or without a 'caller', well versed in Scottish and Irish dances and American country music to boot.

Special offer! 15% discount from quoted fees, applies to all dates booked for December 2011.

The band specialises in barn dances and ceilidhs - a great way of celebrating and bringing people together at weddings and celebrations. Unlike a disco the generations can join together to have fun, and there is no embarrassment about not being able to dance; the caller will teach you all the steps and dances can be kept simple and straightforward.

A barn dance suggests English or American style dancing. Your guests may wish to dress up in cowboy style. A few bales of straw around the hall may add  atmosphere. A ceilidh (or ceilidh ) suggests Scottish or Irish style dancing. Your guests may know Scots or Irish dances but it is worth checking with your guests first as you may need a caller to explain the dances to some of your guests.

The band is available in varying line-ups from a trio through to a quintet and caller. All members have been performing at weddings and ceilidhs across the country for many years. The band is regularly supplemented by a caller, and a bodhran player, Glen. Shamrock's caller can direct both traditional Irish dancing and traditional Scottish dancing, and caters for all levels, from beginners to advanced.

Band-leader Dave is also an accomplished solo bagpipe player and plays all styles, from Scottish and Irish to rock, pop and Indian music. Dave is available to play at weddings, funerals of all denominations (as well as Scots and Irish), whiskey tasting, christenings, birthday parties and retirement parties. See below for prices for the solo bagpipes, and listen to his clips to the right of the page.

What people say Help

  • We just wanted to say a huge thank you to you and the band for playing at our wedding. The band were fantastic!! Everybody enjoyed the mix of music between yourselves and the DJ and the Irish side of the family were singing your praises all evening, saying what a wonderful band you were - you certainly had everyone up dancing!!
We thought it was really special that you allowed the children to get up to the mic and show off their own talents with singing, poetry etc and this added a real personal touch to our wedding!
We are very happy to recommend the band for future functions.

  • I thought the band were excellent and extremely professional. The feedback from the guests was amazing, they covered all the songs that I requested and more which everyone new. I could tell everyone loved it as they all got up as soon as they started and wouldn’t stop until the band stopped. I had a lot of Irish guests who thought it was a lovely touch as I was marrying an Irishman. The band were in constant communication with myself and my coordinator up to and on the day of the wedding, which I was very thankful for putting my mind at ease on the day. Overall they were perfect for my requirements and my day and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone else. I also thought that you were extremely helpful and accommodating Mike with my requirements and kept me advised all the time, which I’m extremely grateful for.
